Tanzanian Albino Murders

Add Comment

There are many fascinating mysteries of Tanzania; among them, its surprisingly high level of albinism.  Albinism afflicts roughly 1 in every 3,000 Tanzanians, a far higher rate than in the rest of the world.  (For example, in the United States roughly 1 in every 20,000 people is born with albinism.)

Unfortunately, Tanzania is also the heart of albino murders.  Folk medicine has it that albinos A) are not human, and B) possess magical powers.  This has led to the murder of approximately 25 albino Tanzanians a year.  Their limbs, their bones, their hair, and their organs are sold on the black market for a shockingly high price.

Interview with Customer Service Expert, Part II

What advice would you give other people who wish to work in retail?

The number one rule to live by: Short term pain= long term gain. Most people are content to "skate by" doing the minimum to keep their paycheck. If you are motivated to excel, you are probably more motivated than most of your co-workers.

Be very careful in regards to what company you choose to work for. Many care for the work/life balance of their employees and follow labor laws (such as being able to clock out for lunch) and others do not have double coverage leaving you lucky to go to the bathroom.

SUMMER MADNESS

America, not to be out done by the Europeans, specifically, by the people of Spain and their annual La Tomatina, a food fight festival held for decades on the last Wednesday in August, during which tons of over-ripe tomatoes are thrown by people in the streets at each other for exactly one hour, that great American city, Reno, Nevada, has begun La Tomatina in Reno, an annual festival where America is given the opportunity to demonstrate that American young people know how to tomato fight too. This past Sunday, Reno hosted the second annual tomato fight, with about 2,500 people showing that American young people knows what to do with a 150,000-pound pile of Roma tomatoes. End of Days for Skype - GMAIL Offers Free Phone Calling via VOIP

Add Comment

Oh the drama! Gmail, Google's free mail provider is now offering free phone calls using VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and it is doing so for FREE (Us / Canada) - at least through the end of the year. I can think of no other time when the saying (it is a saying, right?) "what a tangled web we weave..." can be be applied any better. The new Google Voice (Chat) feature being offered may literally kill Skype in on fell swoop. Google may take the entire VOIP market right out from under them and anyone else who gets in their way.

Interview with Personal Care Assistant

Add Comment

Ramona* is a Personal Care Assistant for a company that specialize in children with special needs. Here are a few insights she has agreed to share about this career.

How did you become a Personal Care Assistant?

I was looking for jobs in the health care industry because I’m interested in that field.

What does your job entail?

There are a lot of things, actually. With the little boys I work with now, I help them become more independent and learn how to do things on their own. I help them with chores, trying to keep their attention spans—they don’t have long attention spans, so we try to focus on one thing at a time. Since they’re young we work with writing, spelling, tying shoes, reading, using proper toilet, shower, and hygiene methods.

I'm back from vacation!

Great AmericaGreat AmericaWhere have I been?  Out of town.  We brought our daughter's laptop computer, as it's the newest one in the house, not knowing we couldn't post messages from it.  I'm sure if we had taken time to sit down and figure out why, we could have solved the problem.  But we didn't have time to mess with the computer.

We headed down to a place called Angels Camp, CA, just southeast of Sacramento.  My sweet cousin and her husband let us use their timeshare and it was wonderful!  Did I do well at staying on my eating plan?  Well, yes, and no.
