Iran is not good at international relations. If they are trying to actually get more credibility with the UN or anyone in the world that doesn’t already like or support them, they are going about it in entirely the wrong way. First the president gets Israel upset by suggesting that the Holocaust didn’t happen, or that it isn’t what it has been made out to be- or at the very least that Palestinians shouldn’t have to deal with a Jewish state because of it. Not a good diplomatic move, folks.
And the other big issue going on with Iran right now is the nuclear question. They have been visited 3 times recently by a UN group sent to see if their nuclear programs are peaceful or if they are trying to build a nuclear bomb. They continue to act like it’s no big deal, like they are doing nothing wrong and the U.S., the UN and everybody else should just leave them alone- anyone has the right to utilize nuclear power for peaceful purposes right?
Well Iran decided to launch a few missiles this week, just to let everyone know that if they are attacked they are ready to defend themselves. This is exactly the reason why they are being so micro-managed by the West on the nuclear issue.
Four days from now Iran is set to sit down with several countries from the West and talk about their nuclear capabilities and plans- and they launch missiles? Come on, guys. Not smart. I get it that they are saying- hey, you can’t push us around, and if we can’t talk this out and get to a point where you invade us, we are ready with some missiles and we will fight back.
And now it comes to light that they have been building a secret nuclear plant. (How do you keep a nuclear plant secret?)
"For all those who ... might harbor dreams about undertaking military invasion against our nation and country, a message of this maneuver is firmness, destructiveness, real and endless resistance," said Iranian General Hossein Salami, head of the Revolutionary Guards Air Force.
Iran plans to launch more missiles later on Sunday as well. Their missiles have the capability to reach U.S. bases in the Gulf and Israel, which is more than cause for concern for the U.S. and other Western powers.
So now, they are launching missiles and building secret nuclear plants- for real? 4 days before your international diplomatic meeting?
It sounds like Iran is picking a fight. They are flagrantly ignoring any kind of request from the West- 3 visiting teams and they keep their newest nuclear facility a secret? I get that their basic bottom line is: Leave us alone, but no one is going to leave them alone. That needs to register, sink in, and become part of their MO.
The way we are going, there is the possibility of a third warfront opening up- not something that we can afford, financially or diplomatically.
The negotiations this week had better see an Iran ready to talk.
